F.R.AI.L. Light
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Ascend, collect fire and beware the Goopers in this upwards platformer about the experiments of Fundamental Radioactive Advancements and Insight Laboratories or F.R.A.I.L. for short.
F.R.A.I.L. has found a way to escape the limitations of the human body and become a "Light", a more agile and complete being, however with this method comes the danger of turning into a "Gooper" instead, a sluggish, hive mind creature, unable to think or function outside of attempting to assimilate another living being.
The chances of a successful transformation are very low and, as such, the Goopers have rapidly grown in number and taken over the whole building. This is where the Lights come in, they've been sent in to retrieve objects from the facility, some by F.R.A.I.L., some by other agencies.
This game has 6 playable characters:
-Light1-once a teenage boy, now a superior being tasked with retrieving items from an abandoned facility (the standard, simple experience)
-Light2-a girl once blind, now able to see, but something is off about her vision still (randomized visual overlays, this can cause SEIZURES for anyone prone to it)
-Light3-a secret agent tasked with spying on F.R.A.I.L. activity, after being caught and forced into the transformation, with the intent to turn him into a blank headed Gooper, he's come out as a Light and managed to escape (has to watch out for functioning cameras and can set up smoke machines to create blind spots the cameras can't see)
Light4-a middle-aged woman once allergic to water, now entirely comprised of it, she is considered a Light based on her agility even though she is a middle ground between Lights and Goopers based on her physical makeup (has to constantly collect water pick-ups to stay alive)
Gooper1-a middle-aged man who has volunteered alongside his wife and daughter for this program, although the transformation was not successful he's maintained past memories as well as not constantly seeking to assimilate things (can't jump and has to be lifted up by the pile of Goopers, will lose if squashed into the pile by hitting a ceiling and has to watch out for falling Goopers which deduct a point from the pick-up counter)
The game has day and night variations for each character as well as the history of how I got into making games.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
1.3.2021 Life of Quality Update:
The game's now got:
-a pause feature, complete with a pause menu
-a button specifically made for quitting the game
-some fixes
This is most probably the only update this'll ever get but, oh well...
While on the topic of updates, funny story, this game was basically finished by early 2020, if I remember correctly, but I got lazy and only came back to finish it way later, but it has gotten there and I've also gotten back into the swing of gamedev, so expect more stuff in the foreseeable future, maybe check out my youtube channel that may or may not be too up to date depending on when you're reading this, oh well, this is anyways all in an update patch note so I can get away with ending it abruptly like this...
3.26.2022 Quality of Quality Update:
This update includes:
-balanced character speeds to make navigation easier
-more responsive character animations
-fixed window size issue from last update
-reduced character score requirement to achieve secret
-rearranged intro
-some revamped text
So...yeah...I decided to touch up my older games in preparation to releasing some new stuff, look out for that, either on my itch page or my youtube channel, that's about it for this update. I hope anyone playing this in the future will enjoy these changes, even though I mainly just did it because the window size was bothering me. (I also switched the download method out for an installer because it's slicker, but that happened a couple weeks after the overall update)

Game looks really nice.. just needs some improvment, The gooper character is the only one i could play without dying.. and you should improve light2
how do I unzip the file?
right click it, then press on "Extract files" and boom, you now have a folder called "F.R.A.I.L. Light", you can then go into it to launch the game
